Ever have one of those moments?

You know I had a day off last week. I'm trying to get my act together and tick some of the things off my never ending 'to do' list. Life sometimes is stranger than fiction and I found myself having my very own David Sedaris moment.

Now brace yourself people, I'm about to share something very private.... I had made an appointment to get my pap smear test done. You know how it is, it's not something you jump at getting done. So there I am at the local clinic - happy that they managed to find someone free to see me. A new doctor, but female so I was happy. We chat away introducing ourselves. Then it's time to get behind the curtain, drop my drawers and pop up on the table. Whilst doing this, my doctor is looking at my file on the computer and filling out paperwork. I'm lying there with my modesty sheet over my...um....modesty (?). Then my doctor says "I think I live near you". "Oh yes?" I reply, with my mind racing. "How near?". From beyond the curtain I hear "well put it this way, you're at number 51 and we're at 45". Then the speculum appears, followed by a smiling face. A new and interesting way of meeting a new neighbour.

Embarrassed? A little. Amused? Definitely. And these things always make for good stories. I'm just hoping I don't get to flash anyone else in the street!

Till next time

3rd time's a charm

Well - look at me. Who'd have imagined that I would be back here again. You might be pleased to know that life is better since the last post. Office politics are now pushed to the back of my mind. Life is too short, and the weather is too beautiful. Time to concentrate on the important things.

You know - it's been a good couple of weeks. I went to two great gigs recently. The fabulous Brisbane band The Grates
swung through Melbourne spreading their loving good vibes . Who could be down or angry with the world when Patience, John and Alana are around. Two local bands supported them - who were also great. The Vasco Era
rocked! Or should that be 'rawked'?

The other show was the gorgeous Ross McLennan, who played as part of the Melbourne International Arts Festival. Such a delight. For some reason Ross' myspace page is having an issue today. But you should check him out.

Some times it's good to be reminded of the talent and beauty that lives on your doorstep. To finish on a good note - here's a picture of Patience I took at the gig. *sigh* I feel happier already!

I'm back.....

Well - it's been a week, but I'm back. Who'd have thought.

Life has lived up to this blogs title - so there you go - watch out. Life does have a twisted sense of humour.

Yes, there has been a few trying moments since last week. And the frustration I feel at enduring the workplace politics overwhelms me. Am I the only one who has thoughts of pushing awful people down staircases? However - life can be tempered by the joy of reading someone who sums up how you feel. I couldn't stop smiling after reading the fabulous Catherine Deveny's current article. Luckily I can read it and laugh, but on another day it may make me weep.

To top things off I now have a cold - in Spring! It seems unfair. I think I need to crawl off for a cup of tea......and a lay down. Not in the foetal position, I promise!

Stay cool lovely people

S&M fans - tune out now

Hello out there

You might think by the title that this might be a certain type of blog - but - guess again!

World of Hurt - is my world. No, I'm not sitting around in a pained existence - it's merely a bit of an in joke. I mean, hey I couldn't think of anything else to call this blog. And it DID get your attention! Anyone who knows me will get the joke.

This is my intro into the world of blogging. How am I doing so far? Keep it nice, I'm a newbie.

I suppose everyone thinks they'll try this and then wonder what it is they'll write about. Time will tell if I keep going. But perhaps I'll become one of those people itching to post my thoughts to the masses.

Who knows - life is a mystery....
